Dannie Williams: I will beat Henry Lundy and will strip him off his gold – Boxing news
Dannie Williams, the current WBC Continental Americas lightweight champion, recently vowed that he will annihilate Henry Lundy, the current NABF lightweight champion, in his March 30, 2012 engagement and will relinquish him from his title for good to prove
that talking does not help anyone defend his title.
The duo is scheduled to meet at Foxwoods Resort situated in Mashantucket, Connecticut, United States for a 10-round titled skirmish. Henry will defend his North American Boxing Federation title for the second consecutive time. The bout will headline Friday
‘Fight Nights’ boxing show, the special weekly edition which is televised on ESPN2.
Dannie, infamous as the ‘Dangerous’, has been in a total 22 brawls and came out victorious in 21. He has lost just one bout to Eloy Perez and since then is on a continuous nine-bout winning streak. The 27-year-old orthodox has obliterated many impressive
names such as Manuel Leyva, Antonio Cervantes, and others.
Dannie has collected a whopping 17 of his wins by knockout, the reason why he is denoted as the most lethal knockout specialist in the division. Williams is coming from a huge win over Fernando Trejo. On the other hand, his opponent Henry, 28, infamous as
the ‘Hank’, has been in a total 23 brawls and just like Dannie has lost only one bout to John Molina.
Lundy is on a three-bout high profiled win streak. After his loss to Molina, Henry nailed Omri Lowther, Patrick Lopez, and recently David Diaz. Henry seriously lacks the knockout ability and has collected just 11 of his wins by knockout.
Williams in the interview clearly mentioned that he will not allow Henry to intimidate him adding that he is in extremely good shape and there is no chance of losing the bout. Dannie revealed that he does not have any kind of personal grudge over Henry adding
that he respects Lundy but he should understand that talking will not help him retain the title.
Dannie remarked, “I don’t want to take anything away from Lundy. He’s the NABF champ and a good fighter, but I’m coming with it and he better not forget that. He talks a lot. I guess he’s trying to get in my head but it’s not going to work. When we get it
on, all the talking will be over.”
Williams while sharing an old saying said that Lundy is acting like a weak guy who talks too much but acts none. Dannie recalled his bout with Reggie and said, “The loudest person in the room is the weakest guy. His people have been saying I’ve never fought
anybody. Well, we’ve fought one common opponent, Reggie Sanders. They went the distance and I nearly killed him. His head was dangling on the ropes. I hurt guys that I hit.”
Henry is currently ranked as world number eight lightweight pugilist. The bout is promoted by Jimmy Burchfield of CES Boxing and will have Henry Lundy’s NABF lightweight title on the line.
