Danny Blind: Jan Vertonghen’s release clause is well over 20 million Euros – Dutch Eredivisie news
Highly-rated Ajax Amsterdam defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, has attracted interest from a host of elite European clubs with his exceptional performances. Manchester City, Arsenal FC, AC Milan and Bayern Munich are all taking keen interest in signing the central
defender. However, the Amsterdammers management has made it clear that the defender will not be allowed to leave Amsterdam Arena on the cheap.
The 24-year-old started his professional career in the 2006/07 season at Amsterdam Arena after training with the Amsterdammers’ youth academy for almost three years. Since then, the highly-rated defender has represented the Amsterdam giants in 124 matches
while also scoring 15 goals.
The central defender has an ongoing contract with De Joden that keeps him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2013. Danny Blind, the Amsterdammers technical manager, has revealed that the Belgian International’s contract has a fee release clause that
will cost any interested club a transfer fee of well over 20 million Euros.
“There is nothing concrete at the moment. Jan has a limited fee released clause in his current deal, but that amount is well over €20m. There are some clubs in England that are willing to pay those kind of fees, but Jan is pretty picky when it comes to a
potential new club”, Blind said while talking to the Dutch media.
The 24-year-old recently revealed that he wants to prolong his stay at Amsterdam Arena for another season, as his side will be competing in UEFA Champions League.
Furthermore, the Belgian stopper admitted that his side have strengthened the squad by signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Derk-Boerrigter-c10972 and believes that his side’s chances of good results in Europe look a lot brighter.
As it stands, a move away for the central defender prior to the 2011/12 season looks unlikely. However, the Amsterdammers could be tempted to cash-in on the defender should an offer in the region of 25 million Euros come in.
