Danny Buderus considers shift to Leeds Rhinos life-changing experience – Rugby League
While talking to reporters on Wednesday, October 5, Danny Buderus of Leeds Rhinos shared his views and said that when he joined in with Leeds almost three years ago it became a “life changing experience”.
Buderus is returning to his long-time club, Newcastle Knights, after he makes his farewell appearance at the Grand Final showdown against St. Helens, which has been scheduled to be staged at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 8.
The final of this year’s Super League campaign will see many players in the league closing their Super League course to take a fresh start with the National Rugby League (NRL) in Australia.
The 33-year-old hooker expressed his concern over the major exodus of players to NRL Australia after the end of this season, which should be the foremost cause of concern for Super Rugby League.
While alerting the Rugby League officials about this sudden departure of players to Australia, the Leeds prop clarified that his case is entirely different from others, who are young and have many more years yet to give to the world of rugby. He said, “You're
out of that bubble and you've got to learn to stand on your own two feet, which I always have. I've been away from home since I was 16. I've brought my two kids up here and I've loved my time here”
He also considers his move to Rhinos, three years ago, one of the best career decisions he ever made and he holds no regrets. His time at his new club was a whole new learning experience for him. The player acknowledged that he took his time to settle down
with his new club, after leaving his full time hooking role at Newcastle and New South Wales.
While referring to his swift adaptation to the newer surroundings that stretched out his playing career, the departing player added, “It was hard to get my head round adjusting to that role But I've enjoyed it and not playing 80 minutes which I used to do
back home has probably put another couple of years on my career.”
