Danny Care gets another chance by Stuart Lancaster – Rugby News Update
Danny Care, the 25-year-old scrum-half, who plays for the Harlequins is tipped to be included in England's Head Coach, Stuart Lancaster’s, squad for the tour of South Africa, that gets underway in June.
Care has been out of international reckoning due to misdemeanours, and alcohsol related offences over the past year, with Lancaster declaring earlier that Care will not selected for national duty, as he cannot be ‘trusted’.
This hurt Care, and after missing the Rugby World Cup in 2011 and then the Six Nations tournament, the scrum-half wants to make up for lost time. He says that he owes Stuart Lancaster ‘an awful lot’ to have a chance with England again.
"It was a time in my life when I probably wasn't playing as much attention to my rugby as I should have done. I probably lost sight of what I was as a person. My job is to play rugby. I took a long hard look at myself in the mirror and sat down with a lot
of people to discuss areas where I can develop my own personal life and I think I am definitely on the road to getting there."
It seems that Care has learnt from the past mistakes and he wants to take this last chance being afforded to him. When he first burst on the International scene in 2008, his pace and invention made him an impossible player to play against, and he was tipped
to greatness, but his own behaviour got the better of him.
Care made his England debut against New Zealand at Auckland on the 14th of June 2008, and till date he has played for England 32 times, with his last appearance coming against Wales at the Millennium Stadium on the 13th of August 2011.
Lancaster is affording him one last opportunity to salvage his international career. He was fined as recently as March by his club, Harlequins, and any future disturbances will not be tolerated by the English boss.
Care, when speaking to Sky Sports News, rightly said, "We have probably all got to realise that we are in the spotlight a lot more.”
