Danny Espinosa may play Wednesdays’ doubleheader as he receives cortisone shot in shoulder-MLB
Washington Nationals’ second baseman Danny Espinosa is all set to return at the earliest as the MRI report does not reveal anything dangerous. When Espinosa had pain in his shoulder in the first place, he feared that he had a labrum tear.
If that was actually the case, he will have to undergo surgery now.
However, he is extremely glad as the MRI examination confirms a bone bruise in his shoulder which means he will not take a protracted period of time to join the Nationals’ line-up again.
With a cortisone shot administered in his shoulder, Espinosa is ready to play on Wednesday. From now onward, he is expected to remain in the team throughout the season.
As the Nationals make their way into the play-offs, he will have opportunities to stand out and help his team win the important matches ahead.
By the time the problem in his shoulder was reported, Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson expressed his concern about how his exclusion will impact the team.
In light of the fact Michael Morse also suffered problems in his left wrist, Johnson was right in showing the consciousness that injuries to the players are not the great sign entering into the post-season.
Currently Johnson will be contended as the injuries that occurred to both Morse and Espinosa have not turned out to be severe.
Espinosa reports his apprehension regarding the possible surgery that may have become indispensable if there was labrum tear in the shoulder. That will not only have forced him out of the rest of the season but will also have ensured his lengthy outage from
all baseball activities.
"This is the best news that we could have gotten," he said. "If this was a rotator cuff tear or a labrum tear, it would have lingered the rest of the season. I would have had to have surgery in the offseason. This is the best. I didn't think there was going
to be a bruise in there, but this was definitely the best news we could have gotten."
Espinosa will be eyeing on playing in Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He will be looking to put up an impressive performance and make sure he compensates for his poor outings earlier.
