Danny Garcia: I am going to keep the belts here on the East Coast – Boxing News
American unbeaten fighter Danny Garcia is confident of scoring a victory against Mexican ring legend Erik Morales. Both fighters were present for the press conference of their Saturday night engagement. Garcia spoke about his training camp and his preparation
for the fight, saying he would score a win over the Mexican at any cost.
Garcia, the current light welterweight WBC and WBA unified champion, claimed that he will keep the belts on the East Coast and everyone would see that this Saturday.
“See you Saturday night. I want to thank God for giving me an opportunity to be here and showcase my skills on this level. I want to thank my dad, my family who helped me get through camp.”
Garcia defeated Morales earlier this year to win the WBC title. He then went onto face Briton WBA light welterweight titlist Amir Khan in a title unification bout. Garcia dismantled Khan in the third round and knocked him out in the fourth round. Hence,
the American unbeaten fighter grabbed the WBA title to become a unified champion.
“I had about a 10-week camp, a hard, strong camp. Got my rounds in sparring and miles in running. Did my conditioning. I put in the hard work. I sacrificed all the things I love to do just to perform and give the fans at the Barclays Center a great fight.
I’m ready. I’m going to keep the belts here on the East Coast, and I will see on Saturday.”
For now, Garcia and Morales both are ready to go head to head with each other. The fight is of utmost importance to Garcia, as he needs to prove his mettle against Morales. Even though Garcia defeated Morales earlier this year, not many fans and analysts
were impressed by his performance. Therefore, this time, it is mandatory for Garcia to score a knockout win over Morales in order to give a major boost to his career.
Garcia’s father Angel Garcia is already confident that his son would score a knockout over Morales by the fifth round at the most. If that happens, Garcia would surely be an icon for the light welterweight division.
