Danny Garcia: I have no time for trash-talking – Boxing News
Although he is among the fiercest fighters today, Danny Garcia still manages to maintain his calm when he is face to face in press conferences against his opponents. Recently, the WBC and WBA champion was present in New York for a press conference for his
upcoming rematch against Mexican legend Erik Morales.
While Morales was quite respectful towards Garcia and spoke merely about himself, his father Jose Garcia went the extra mile to bash Garcia.
“Erik never had any problems with any fighter he faced. He was coming back from [gall bladder surgery] three months before he fought. The end result was Danny Garcia took advantage of that situation and took the belt,” said Jose Garcia in an attempt to defend
his son.
However, Garcia, who usually plays soft, was furious over the fact that all his opponents who have fell to him always came up with excuses. Garcia asserted that he has no time to talk about whether Morales was in the right condition or not but he will prove
his mettle to the world by knocking out Morales once again on October 20.
“I have no time for that. I’ll do my talking in the ring, and this time, I’ll stop him. I’m tired of these excuses everyone has when I win. I beat him the first time and Morales never even shook my hand after the fight. I’m going into this with the same
attitude I go into every fight, and that’s to knock the guy out -- especially this guy,” said Garcia.
Garcia defeated Erik Morales last year to win the WBC light welterweight title. On July 14 this year, Garcia defeated WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan to officially unite his titles. As of now, Garcia stands as the WBA and WBC light welterweight
titlist.
Erik Morales believes his fight against Garcia is the most important career of his fight, as it would define his future goals. Similarly, even Garcia believes he has to perform better than ever against Morales, to make sure he proves his mettle. This is
the only chance for Garcia to prove that he indeed is the champion of the welterweight division.
