Danny Garcia: I respect Amir Khan for his accomplishments – Boxing News
Usually the quiet one, Danny Garcia spoke about his upcoming fight with Amir Khan on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Garcia, current WBC Light Welterweight Champion, expressed his respect for Khan’s accomplishment, yet claimed that he will beat
the Briton fighter.
Garcia, compared to Khan, is a young fighter who has nailed some of the top-notch fighters in the industry. He is coming off a win against the legendary Erik Morales, which makes him confident that he can defeat Khan as well.
It should be noted here that July 14 would be Garcia’s biggest payday to date. When asked, Garcia confirmed that it indeed would be his biggest payday, which is more like a dream coming true. However, he added that regardless of the money he will be earning,
every fight is an important one to him. According to Garcia, every fight is a big fight and you cannot afford to lose.
Garcia was then asked about his views regarding Amir Khan’s boxing career. Surprisingly, instead of trash-talking about Khan, Garcia made it a mark to appreciate the Briton for his efforts. According to Garcia, if Khan became the champion in his life that
means he was worth it. He added that no fighter can wake up one morning to be the champion, he has to work hard for it. He showed great respect for Khan yet he claimed he would be victorious on July 14.
According to Garcia, Khan has built a great name for himself in the industry but he (Garcia) will destroy it on the big day.
Danny Garcia currently stands as an undefeated fighter with 23 wins in his resume. The young American pugilist has stepped in the ring 23 times and has always emerged victorious. Out of the grand total, 18 of his wins have come in through knockouts. On the
other hand, Khan currently stands with 26 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie and 18 knockouts in his portfolio.
