Danny Garcia: A tough obstacle in Amir Khan’s way to Floyd Mayweather – Boxing Special
Amir Khan, the former WBA Super World and IBF light welterweight champion, is most probably passing through his career’s milestone moment.
The former world champion, who will take on Danny Garcia, the current WBC light welterweight champion, recently shared his deepest desire to collide with the legendary pugilist in the welterweight division, Floyd Mayweather.
Whether Khan gets a shot at Mayweather or not is not important. The question raised by various critics is whether Khan has the ability to nail Garcia or not.
According to some recent statements made by several concerned individuals, the winner of the Danny-Amir bout will move on to collide with either Floyd or Lucas Martin Matthysse. It means that for the time being, Khan’s only hindrance to Mayweather is undefeated
Garcia.
Amir is a quality pugilist and Golden Boy Promotions Richard Schaefer’s trust is substantial proof of the fact. Khan, 25, has been in a total of 28 bouts, boasting 26 wins. Despite the fact that he is a prolific pounder, Khan does possess certain deficiencies.
Khan does not boast a flawless resume like Danny. Furthermore, he is coming off a pretty controversial loss to Lamont Peterson. In addition to the above, Garcia is much agile than Khan and also possesses a pretty powerful jab.
Moreover, Danny will also enter the ring with the same ambitions in his mind. Garcia, 24, is a talented pugilist who has nailed names like Erik Morales, Kendall Holt, Nate Campbell and others.
Moreover, he has certain qualities that make him unique and separate him from the rest of the light welterweights. Garcia knows that the bout is a significant one, not because he has to defend his title and streak but also because it can lead him to Mayweather.
The aforementioned aspects will substantially boost Garcia’s motivation and will energise him altogether. Therefore, Amir should either come up with a unique game plan to perfectly execute Danny or should drop the Floyd-dream altogether.
During a recent media interaction, Amir shared his feelings on taking Money Mayweather and stated, “I would love to take that fight against Mayweather one day, its an ambition of mine to fight the best out there. Just like every fighter's ambition to fight
the best, my ambition is to fight Mayweather.”
If Khan wants to realise his dream he must concentrate on his current opponent. He should understand that Danny is a lethal pounder who cannot be taken lightly. Garcia has proved in his last bout with Erik that he is in his prime and is not ready to give
up at all.
However, one thing is for sure, if Amir wins, his progression towards Floyd is certain. Khan has already pinpointed in various media statements that his Garcia-venture is the last at 140-pounds.
Above all, a win over Garcia-calibre belligerent will itself seal the fact that Amir has the guts, resilience, strength and ability to collide with Floyd.
