Danny Garcia feels no different going against Erik Morales for the second time – Boxing News
Danny Garcia will be facing Mexican legend Erik Morales for the second time, but this time he will be the one defending titles whereas Morales will enter the ring as a challenger. Earlier this year, both men locked horns and Garcia was the one who emerged
victorious. However, Garcia’s performance was considered under par by most analysts.
Now, he is the unified WBC and WBA light welterweight titlist and he will be defending his crown against Morales. It is a tough fight but the young champion believes he has everything to put down Morales once again.
“It was my first championship fight,” said Garcia. “I was facing a legend. I was standing in front of him too long. I was letting the older guy think and pick his shots. This time I can’t let him think. I just have to go in there and destroy.”
“If he makes weight, I’ll be happy for him. I’ll clap for him,” he added.
When asked how he is feeling facing the legendary fighter for the second time, Garcia iterated, “The second time doesn’t feel no different. It’s basically the same thing. The only thing this time is that Danny is hungrier.”
Garcia further added that he does not want to be a fighter who would regret over his decisions later in his life. According to the WBC champion, a lot of fighters regret their choices later in their life but he does not want to do this.
On the other hand, Morales is equally prepared for the fight. He wants to prove his mettle against the young champion. While everyone else believes Morales is an old warhorse, the legendary Mexican former champion thinks otherwise. Morales believes he still
has enough left in him. He wants to prove it to the world that he still is the ferocious fighter he once was.
For now, fans are eager to see who comes out on top as both fighters are on top of their games right now. Garcia needs to grab an impressive win, unlike last time, in order to cement his legacy as the best light welterweight right now.
