Danny Garcia knocks out Erik Morales in fourth round – Boxing News
WBC light welterweight titlist Danny Garcia once again did it. It seems like knocking out Briton Amir Khan was not enough for the unbeaten American that he went on to stop Mexican ring legend Erik Morales in the fourth round. An astounding victory for Garcia
that not only has earned him the respect of a champion but also earned him a million dollar bucks, his biggest payday.
The fight took place past Saturday in New York. Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia stopped Morales at 1:23 of the fourth round at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The American unbeaten fighter once again proved he is better than Morales, the second time this year,
and went on to retain his WBC and WBA super lightweight titles.
Now, Garcia stands with 25 victories and 0 losses in his portfolio, with two consecutive wins over Morales. Garcia defeated Morales earlier this year via unanimous decision and now with a knockout. His previous win marred by controversy, as Morales was recovering
from a gallbladder surgery. However, now, Garcia has proven his mettle against probably his toughest opponent to date.
Similar to the Khan fight, Garcia took a slow start past Saturday, watching Morales’ movements and his intentions. The initial two rounds were slow, as if both fighters were waiting for the other to make a move. However, during the third round, Garcia was
in rage, breaking Morales down with body shots.
During the fourth round, Garcia was able to continue his blows that eventually made the Mexican legend swing and fall. Garcia was able to score the 16th knockout of his career, while Morales laid on the mat.
It should be noted here that Garcia delivered the same left hook to Morales that he did to Khan earlier this year. The hook has become Garcia’s signature move, always taking him to the stage of victory.
For now, Morales is talking retirement while Garcia is enjoying his fame, which is increasing day by day. The American unbeaten celebrated his victory while Morales spoke of having his last fight in Tijuana. Garcia still remains the unbeaten WBC and WBC
light welterweight titlist.
