Danny Garcia ready to prove his father’s claims – Boxing Special
Danny Garcia, the current WBC light welterweight champion, is every inch ready to establish his father Angel Garcia's claims.
Angel Garcia has trash-talked a lot about Danny Garcia's July 14 opponent Amir Khan. Now it is up to Danny Garcia if he can prove his father right or wrong.
The young Philadelphia proud, who will defend his title against Amir Khan on July 14, 2012, is ready to give the former lightweight champion a tough time.
The duo is currently involved in a war of words, continuously bashing each other for being under-rated pugilists.
The intensity of the upcoming 12-round title bout can be ascertained by the fact that even trainers and managers of both the fighters have become a part of the heated onslaught.
Danny’s ability to retain the trust vested by his father was questioned by many critics when in a recent media interaction, Angel Garcia father and trainer of Danny Garcia bashed Khan for being an ‘overrated’ pugilist with under par boxing abilities.
Khan and Angel were present in Los Angeles to promote and announce the upcoming fight when Garcia Senior, overwhelmed by his excited feelings, stated, “First of all, Khan is an overrated fighter.” The comment raged Amir who tried his level best to hush Angel
but was unable to do so.
Khan simply replied, “Danny's father does a lot of talking, but at the end of the day he's not the one who's going to be in the ring. You can keep saying what you want - that I'm overrated and I'm no good - but when I beat your son, am I still going to be
overrated?”
The verbal bashing and passing of insolent one-liners will continue until the duo enters the ring, but for now the point is: What makes Angel Garcia believe that his undefeated lad will obliterate the former world champion?
A look at the statistical and technical facets of the duo shows that Khan does have a bit upper hand over Garcia, even then Angel is confident that Khan would be stunned by the rocky jabs of his son.
To some extent, Angel is right. Danny will prove that his father’s believe in him was appropriate since he is entering the ring with an undefeated streak. Moreover, Danny has repeatedly proven that he can nail even the best man in the division.
Erik Morales, Kendall Holt, Nate Campbell, Mike Arnaoutis, Jorge Romero and many others tried their level best to pin the 24-year-old enigma, but were simply helpless and either got knocked out or went out of the ring with a humiliating decision loss.
Also known as ‘Swift’, Garcia has sealed the fact in his recent bouts that he is really swift and cannot be easily tailed.
The agility, footwork, reach and many other facets enable him to become a complete brawling package. With high levels of resilience, Danny has the tendency to absorb severe punishment.
All these aspects aside, his March 24 unanimous decision win over Mexican legend Erik Morales alone is proof of the fact that Danny could pound Khan, batter him mercilessly and win in order to prove his father correct.
