Danny Garcia talks about his win over Erik Morales – Boxing News
WBA and WBC light welterweight titlist Danny Garcia spoke his heart out regarding his recent win over Mexican ring legend Erik Morales. Garcia knocked out Morales, same like he did Amir Khan. This was the second time Garcia defeated Morales. The first time,
Garcia could not stop the Mexican legend but was able to defeat him via decision. This time, however, Garcia made it a point to knock out Morales cold.
“Umman, to tell you the truth, I knew whatever he brought to the table, he couldn't beat me,” said Garcia when asked if he was worried of Erik Morales failed urine test for the fight.
“I was too experienced. I have gotten way better now, so I knew that he wasn't gonna beat me and that's why I took it,” he added.
Garcia was then if he was sure Morales was out after delivering a clean huge left hook and the American fighter nodded in approval.
“Yeah, I definitely knew man because it was too clean of a punch. I don't care who I hit with that, man, they going to sleep (laughing).”
Garcia currently stands as a successful fighter who has taken on some of the biggest challenges in his division. Unlike unbeaten fighters like Timothy Bradley, Garcia is ready to take on anyone, regardless of his power and speed.
When asked if he was bothered with the entire scenario of not being appreciated for his wins, Garcia responded in negative, saying he hardly cares about the recognition.
“I mean, I really don't care about that stuff, man. I'm just gonna keep winning whether they give me the recognition or not. It really don't matter. I'm here to do my job,” he said.
For now, Garcia is scheduled to face Zab Judah on February 9, Saturday, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Garcia will be defending his titles against Judah, a light welterweight who stands as no match for the unbeaten American. Most analysts
and fans were hoping for a rematch between Garcia and Amir Khan but it seems like team Garcia is not in the mood.
