Danny Granger knee injury not a big issue for the Pacers – NBA News
Danny Granger, the go to guy of the Indiana Pacers offence, suffered a mild scare during the offseason when he tweaked his knee while training. Although it is nothing serious and Granger is expected to be fully recovered when the
season starts in late October, the Pacers coaching staff is thinking of going easy on him during training camp and the preseason games.
Pacers head coach Frank Vogel revealed about the severity injury that Granger suffered while talking to the Indianapolis Star.
He did, although, say that Granger is participating in team workouts and will be fully recovered by the time the season starts.
“Before we get to that, though, forward Danny Granger, the team’s leading scorer the past five seasons, will be limited some at the start of training camp after an issue with his left knee, which happened while working out in Los
Angeles late in the summer, caused him to get an injection in it. Granger’s at the fieldhouse working out with the rest of his teammates daily, but the Pacers, who don’t believe it’s a major issue, plan to take it easy with him early on and allow him to use
the preseason to work on his conditioning. Granger’s expected to play in some of the preseason games,”
The Pacers, although more well known and feared for their defence, have a decent offensive attack as well and Granger is at the forefront in that regard. Last season, the small forward averaged 18.7 points a game for them, so it
is essential that he be ready for the regular season when the time comes. Granger also has some improvement to make to his game, if he wants to carry the Pacers all the way to the NBA Finals.
Last season, the Pacers were defeated by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semi Finals, and need a consistent offence to get past the Eastern Conference. The coaching staff is closely monitoring Granger as he trains at the
Pacers facility, and are planning to ease him back over the course of the training camp and preseason games.
