Danny Granger leads the Indiana Pacers to 109-100 win over the Golden State Warriors
Danny Granger continued his strong play off the bench with 27 points - hitting all 16 free throws - as the Indiana Pacers overcame the Golden State Warriors 109-100 at Conseco Field House on Tuesday night. The result meant that the Pacers managed to break
a two-game losing streak.
Tyler Hansbrough chipped in 14 points while Darren Collison scored 11 points for Indiana, who won their 17th home game of the season. Pacers forward Hansbrough outlined the importance of the win by saying, “This was a good win, not necessarily
a big win. We really needed (the victory) after those two losses.”
The 24-year-old centre Roy Hibbert and forward Paul George added 12 points each for the Pacers, who improved their record to 27-32 for the current season. Guard Reggie Williams did all he could as he came off the bench with a team-high 25 points in the losing
effort.
Stephen Curry registered 20 points while the forward-center David Lee finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds for Golden State, who lost their fourth consecutive game.
Match Analysis
The Pacers regained their shooting touch after two poor games. They shot 55 percent from the field, including 50 percent on three-pointers.
Indiana got off to a strong start in the game as Granger scored 11 points and Hibbert had seven of his points in the opening quarter. The Pacers dominated the home court throughout the first quarter and managed to take a 10-point (29-19) lead into the second.
The Warriors got it going offensively early in the second quarter and successfully turned the 10-point deficit into a 46-43 advantage at half time.
Golden State continued to play offensively and extended their lead to five points in the opening minutes of the third quarter. However, the Pacers got their shooting touch back halfway through the third and went on a 7-0 run to once again take the control
of the contest.
Collison's basket and a three-pointer expanded the Pacers lead to 71-64 with less than three minutes left in the quarter. Indiana led 80-71 entering the final stanza on the back of some good performances from Granger and Collison.
The Pacers extended their lead to as many as 12 points early in the fourth quarter, capped by a sizzling dunk shot from George. However, Golden State used a 7-0 spurt to make it a one-possession contest at 92-95 with four minutes to go until the final buzzer.
The Pacers then scored the last six points of the game in the final minute to seal the home victory.
