Danny Lee eyes Honda Classic despite weakness
Kiwi golfer Danny Lee withdrew from the Mayakoba Golf Classic but he is definitely looking forward to tee it off at Honda Classic.
21-year-old golfer, however, was going strong at Mayakoba with 12 holes in his second round when he began to show symptoms of stomach ailment.
The pain went to the extent that he had no other option but to withdraw himself from the championship. However, according to pundits this proved to be a blessing in disguise for him.
Many of them said that the golfer was eight-over par through 12 holes. He had to go 12 over in the tournament. So more or less, it was impossible for him to make the cut on the weekend.
Despite the fact Lee has seven amateur wins currently in his portfolio, his professional career has not been that eventful.
With just two professional wins on board, the golfer is not aiming for anything better.
Before the onset of Mayakoba he had already added four of six cuts. This can further be vindicated from his twin finishes, one being at T25 and the other at T66.
In addition to this it is also important to mention here that regardless of his rather shaky performance the golfer has been provided with the opportunity of teeing it off at the upcoming Honda Classic.
His name is currently listed in the contenders who will be competing against each other for the event kicking off on Friday.
Furthermore, experts also believe that the golfer needs to invest more time and effort in order to develop greater level of fitness.
Lee, understanding the gravity of the situation, has started to take proper medications that can help him in recovering from the disease as soon as possible.
He understands that it is important to maintain his fitness if he intends to extend his career on the golf course.
The upcoming challenge in Florida will provide him with the much needed breakthrough, only if he is able to perform well.
Lee will definitely have to input his best to counter the resistance from the opposing end. Meanwhile, Rory Sabbatini will be defending his title at Florida from this week.
