Danny Lee in trouble at Wyndham
New Zealand is not known as a golf sporting nation but Danny Lee’s success at the PGA Tour has given some glimpse of hope to the upcoming players from the land of Kiwis.
However, at the Wyndham Championship, Danny has been off the pace. His first round 71 now means that his chances of making it to the Barclays are minimal.
The 24-year-old shot three birdies in his round but double bogey on the 10th and 11th meant that he finished way below at T100.
This now means that he would need a mammoth effort in the second round to pull of something for him. Lee is currently at 156th in the FedEx Cup rankings. Probably, no less than top-10 or lower finish would ensure his place at the Barclays.
If he manages to achieve this feat, then he will become a national hero as nobody form New Zealand has ever done this before.
Danny who is a Korean native migrated to New Zealand when he was young and since then he has been playing for the Kiwi’s.
This season so far has been pretty poor for the New Zealander. In the 21 events that he started in, he missed the cuts in ten of them and has only two top 25 finishes.
He needs to pull up his socks for himself as well because he is low down in money earned list as well. Chances are that he might even loose his PGA card for next season. Danny must at least finish in top ten in order climb up in the money rankings list as
well.
Danny’s tee shorts were pretty way ward on the first day and he must improve on that chances are that rain might play its role in the coming days.
Danny must make some decent approaches, he has been putting the ball pretty well so if he manages to get hold of his tee shots and approaches then he will surely improve on.
The problem is that course so easy that everybody is shooting low and his first round 71 has really dealt a big blow on his chances.
