Danny Morrison thinks http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 can take home the trophy a fifth time - ICC World Cup 2011 update
Former Kiwi pace man, Danny Morrison, has expressed his desire for the Aussies to win the ongoing World Cup. He felt that the Australian team was playing smart and was concentrating on the task at hand. The fast bowler turned commentator is of the view that
the Kangaroos are going to make it slowly and steadily as they have to avoid injuries and have to keep their players focused and prepared for the challenging quarter-finals and final of the event.
Talking about the Aussies performance in last game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, Morrison said that the captain of the team, Ricky Ponting, is a smart guy and has prepared his team for every situation. Australian batsmen are not good players of spin bowling but they
did not lose any wickets against spinner and captain of the Kiwis, Daniel Vettori. Ricky Ponting is concerned that although his fast bowlers are picking up wickets, they are mostly due to the poor shot selection of the batsmen instead of the quality of Aussie
bowlers. Ponting is also trying to concentrate more on the batsmen poor selection of hits and shots.
Their victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 by 91 runs has not been enough to prove to commentators and observers that they are the world number one. They will have to work hard to uphold their ranking and improve their batting against with quality spin.
The former Kiwi player said that the Aussies are great players but their performances in the previous two matches of the current ICC World Cup 2011 are not up to the mark. He advised the captain to train his batsmen to play more in the middle order.
The Australian team has won four World Cups, out of which last three World Cups have been won consecutively. Ponting is trying hard to rectify the mistakes made by the team in the last two matches of the ICC World Cup 2011 and is still hopeful that the team
will maintain the ‘Cricket Champions’ label after the tournament.
