Danny Shum has been representing Hong Kong in horseracing for quite some time and he has made his country proud on numerous occasions now. He has trained some very good stallions and will be looking to continue delivering the goods in the future. He was
also a former jockey, but seems to enjoy the training role more than that.
After serving the sport for quite some time, he finally managed to succeed at the highest level in February 2005, by succeeding in the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile (Group 1). The victory was brought up for him by Scintillation, who was a fierce competitor
during his time.
The Australian gelding made his trainer proud on numerous occasions, as he managed to succeed at the highest level on several occasions. His overall strike rate was not much high, but he used to lift his game, when it mattered the most.
Out of his 30 appearances, Scintillation managed to win six events whereas finished as a runner up on four times. In addition to that, he also secured the third spot thrice, proving what he was capable of achieving.
Out of his three victories, he won three Group 1 events for Shum, which was really impressive. However, his form faded away during the 2008 season and his career came to an end at the end of that year.
Shum did not enjoy any major victory in 2008, but his trainee Thumbs Up helped him claim the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile (Group 1) (Turf). However, the eight-year-old gelding is currently being trained by C. Fownes.
On the other hand, the veteran trainer from Hong Kong shifted his attention towards Little Bridge, who debuted in the sport in 2010. He has been sensational since then and has made his team proud in numerous important events.
Recently, Little Bridge succeeded in the King's Stand Stakes (British Champions Series & Global Sprint Challenge) (Group 1) at Ascot, which is the biggest achievement of his career till date. He has the ability to deliver such solid results in the future
