The Borussia Monchengladbach defender is upset after missing his opportunity against the Munich giants in the semi-final of the German Cup.
Dante has expressed his disappointment after losing to Bayern Munich in the semi-final of the German Cup on Wednesday, March 21, at the Borussia-Park. The defender missed a penalty during the shoot-out as the Foals eventually lost
4-2 after both sides failed to score in normal time.
The Brazilian stated that Gladbach went into the game with ambition of playing the final against Borussia Dortmund. He claimed that the Foals’ defence stood firm in front of the mighty Reds who had been scoring heavily in their
previous outings. Dante accepted that he still regrets missing his chance and admitted that he could have done better.
As a result of this defeat, Monchengladbach have been eliminated from the DFB-Pokal and Bayern will now face the Borussians in the final on May 12 in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536. While speaking to sports website, Goal.com, the 28-year-old further added:
"I did not sleep well because we were eliminated. The final was our dream, it is very sad. When I went to the ball, I was very confident. I had a good idea. Neuer had been in the other corner, I felt quite safe."
On the other hand, Dante mentioned that Gladbach are confident of turning things around in the coming week. He stressed at the importance of continuing their winning streak in the Bundesliga and achieving their ultimate goal of
making it to the next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The former Standard Liege player urged the fans to encourage their side rather than mourning their loss to the Reds in the DFB-Pokal last-four. He opined that if the Borussia-Park outfit keep their momentum in the Bundesliga then
they could also end up challenging Bayern Munich for the second spot behind Borussia Dortmund.
"There are still 24 points to play for. The good thing is that we will play again soon. One doesn't have time to cry in football, so the disappointment leaves quickly. We are a great team and we will reach our goals," Dante concluded.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dante-c10236 has been strongly linked with a move to the Munich giants by the end of this season and it is believed that the Reds bosses have agreed to pay a 4.7 million Euro buy-out clause for the Brazilian.
