Dantonio set to return for Wisconsin game
After suffering a mild heart attack two weeks ago, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio plans to be in a coaching box on Saturday as the No.24 Spartans face
No. 11 Wisconsin.
Dantonio announced his plays on Tuesday.
"I'm going to ease back into this much like anybody would after any injury," Dantonio said. "I'm going to listen to our doctors, but I am going to ease back
into this and do something daily with our football team."
Dantonio, 54, was taken to the hospital after Michigan State's dramatic win over Notre Dame. The following week, Dantonio missed the 45-7 win over Northern
Colorado as offensive coordinator Don Treadwell led the team in his absence.
Dantonio was released from the hospital a week ago and was at practice on Friday to visit the team.
Even after the health scare, Dantonio is still focused on Saturday's massive Big Ten battle.
"I think it's very, very important that we focus on Wisconsin – that the focus go from Mark Dantonio and that night to Wisconsin and what we have to get
done this weekend," Dantonio said.
Danotonio said he will not be on the field during the contest.
"I would expect to be in the box on Saturday," Dantonio said. "That would be my initial plan at this point."
While recovering from the heart attack, Dantonio did not enjoy watching the game at home.
"I will say it was a little bit surreal watching the game at home," he said. "I had no chips. I wasn't allowed. It was different. You see your football team,
or our football team, playing, and you're not there, and you've been there for four years."
Michigan State and Wisconsin are both undefeated at 4-0. The contest is the conference opener for both teams. Wisconsin won last year's contest 38-30.
