Dar Academy pounds the MOP Club by 7-3 in the last match of the Under-18: Hockey Recap
Pakistan’s finest academy team, Tanvir Dar Hockey Academy (HA) trounced the Meet Other Players (MOP) Club in the second of the two Under-18 Tests played in Holland.
With the beginning of the match, Pakistan's side was found dominating the field with attacks and ball control. They received two penalty corners in the early minutes of the first half, but those went wasted due to weak executions. However, on the 10th minute
mark, Rizwan was found on the front foot making an attempt from the right side that was denied by the MOP’s goal-keeper. Another Pakistan striker, Adeel made a timely attempt for a rebound that opened the scores at 1-0.
In the very next minute, Bilal Mahmood made contribution in advancing the teams lead to 2-0, with a hit from the right side into the net.
Further into the first half, the team sustained to act aggressive and received three more penalty corner awards, but all went in vain. However, the third addition to the score-board was made by Lahore academy’s Aamer Ali in the 25thminute.
Dar HA kept missing their potential scoring chances until the sixth one, when Rana Zubair converted their first of the six penalty corners with a high flick that netted the goal past the goal-keeper, setting scores at 4-0.
The host team seemed to be struggling hard for opening their first shot, succeeded when Bert Vd Boer sealed a goal, but this attack was soon countered by HA when Bilal reappeared and scored the fifth goal, in the closing minute of the first half, sealing
scores at 5-1.
In the second half, the Dutch team seemed more composed and showed a good game but were not lucky to make any score additions. On the other hand, HA kept counting up their scores and raised the pressure over their opponents.
The next two goals were made by Adeel and Rana Zubair, both sealing their games’ second goal. Adeel made a field goal whereas Zubair converted a penalty corner, taking the lead to 7-1.
At this point, the MOP team sweated their way into the HA’s defensive circle and made two successful goals on after the other, attempted by Boer and Dennis Korver. The trail reduced to 3-7 with the close of the match, declaring the second win for Dar HA.
The series was a solitary win for the Pakistan side by 2-0, with two wins at 2-0 and 7-3, respectively.
At the end of the match, dar HA distributed souvenirs to MOP club along with a hand-knitted carpet that was presented to MOP’s President, Caspar Jan van Schaardenburg.
