Dar Re Mi ruled out of Yorkshire Oaks assignment
The John Gosden trained Dar Re Mi will be absent from the line up for next week’s Yorkshire Oaks, as she has not recovered sufficiently from a foot abscess. The injury had already caused the mare to miss last month’s King George V1 And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot. Peter Shoemark, who is John Gosden’s racing secretary explained, "She has lost a bit of time due to the foot abscess that caused her to miss the King George and the Yorkshire Oaks has just come a bit too soon for her.
However, it is still a very hot line up with the 2009 Epsom Oaks winner Sariska, set to take on this season’s star filly Snow Fairy. Having finished runner-up in this contest twelve months ago, Sariska will be looking to go one better and her trainer Michael Bell reports her to be in top form ahead of her journey to the Knavesmire. When last seen on a racecourse, she put up a good effort in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, filling the runner-up spot behind Fame And Glory.
Meanwhile Ed Dunlop’s Snow Fairy has been simply stunning this season, beating Meeznah at Epsom and following up with a demolition job in the Irish Oaks, coming home eight lengths clear of Miss Jean Brodie. Connections are insisting that this daughter of Intikhab has improved since and if that is the case then she will take all the beating.
Henry Cecil is in a very bullish mood regarding his entry Midday. He said, "She is very well. She got slightly jarred at York first time, but I had to run her somewhere and trying to give weight to Sariska was always going to be difficult. She needed the race and we were not hard on her, but she came back quite sore and we had to give her a bit of time. She has won the Nassau since and I’m pretty confident she has improved for that. I will be very disappointed if she didn’t run a great race".
