The following is from a Wall Street News Service

"Reports from a Detroit Radio Station has Jimmy Devellano talking about Darcy Tucker in a Red Wings uniform next year. Devallano said "The guys a great player, and bad teams can make great players look bad. We enquired about him at the trade deadline the last two years and were rebuffed both times, although Fletcher tried to get him to waive his clause this year. Kenny and Mike love the guy and we talked to a couple of our senior players who think he's a perfect fit for our team.

Tucker's agent, Carlos Sosa would not talk about specific teams but said several playoff teams had called about Tucker's services and was not worried about his client not having an NHL job next year

  1. no i think that philidelphia will take him because up his roughness. I thonk he just realized last year that the toronto maple leafs suck and that there is no point of evan bother and try!

  2. It would be interesting to have Tucker in Detroit.  He certainly wouldn't hurt to have on the grind line.  But do we really need him in Detroit?  If McCarty leaves then Tucker would certainly be the man to take the job to cover that role.  Considering he lives in Toronto which is only a 4 hour drive from Detroit he wouldn't have to necessarily uproot the entire family which might be a good thing if Detroit does want him.  In the end, he is a player that will land somewhere next year and Detroit wouldn't be a bad fit at all.

  3. If they are, they're probably trying to get him to entice Sundin into signing with them. That's the thing about the Wings that has always made me notice: they don't really have an enforcer/agitator.

  4. Personally, I don't see it happening.

IF Devellano sought Tucker at this year's trade deadline, and Fletcher said to Tucker 'The best team in the NHL wants you,  will you waive your clause?' and Tucker said no............why would he go now?

If I was playing on a team headed for nowhere (as Toronto was this past year), and the #1 team wanted me, I'd be waiving that clause in a heartbeat.  The Stanley Cup is what we play for............not for ourselves.

Tucker sounds like he plays for himself, and that would get him an ***-kicking from McCarty in a secluded corner in the JLA parking lot if he put himself over the team!

Tucker had a no movement clause, he couldn't be put on waivers to be claimed.  Otherwise, the Leafs put him on waivers, and if nobody claims him, he goes to the Marlies where the salary doesn't count against the NHL cap at all.  The no movement clause meant he plays for the Leafs, or the Leafs buy him out.  They chose the latter.

  5. detroit  doesn't have the cap space and why not claim him off waivers if you only have to pay 1/2 his salary?  no detroit is soon going to be the tampa bay of the west by only having a few players with large contracts and rookies and lower paid players filling out the rest. it's only a matter of time before parity catches up with detroit! DOOM ON DETROIT!

  6. I think he'd show some good veteranship... like the wings don't have enough lol... but Holland said there close to a deal with McCarty so do we really need him?  Drake will probably retire and Helm can have a more permanent spot... unless Detroit doesn't think he's ready to play full time... but if they thought that, why would they play him in the Cup Finals?  As much as I would love it, I don't see it happening.

  7. ihope he doesnt show up in Detroit. i hate him.

  8. Good. Get him out of the Eastern Conference. I hate that little prick. Although I'd prefer him to stay on the golf course permanently.

  9. I don't think that will happen. Detroit, Ottawa, and Montreal are the three places I do not want to see him go. I wish the Leafs didn't buy him out:(
