Darek Braunecker points at an increasing interest in Cliff Lee
Cliff Lee has been one of the most sought out players in the Major League, this season. The off field theatrics has played in the pitcher’s favour thus far and there is an expected increase in his valuation following the lack of key ball throwers in the
league. Many ball clubs in the National League and the American League are looking to add the maestro to their roster but the decision has been left up to the veteran. His agent has come out to offer an insight on the situation developing in the off season.
The winter meetings are leading the headlines in Major League Baseball and Lee is considered the top agent in the market. He is speculated to earn a good figure above any average salary and it’s going to be easy to suggest the years tied down on the contract
will be lengthy. Cliff was exceptionally pitching for the Texas Rangers in the playoffs and ended the post season with 7 wins and 2 losses in the major tournament.
He helped the Texans reach the World Series and on three games taking the opponents apart. He was able to deal with the Tampa Bay Rays twice and didn’t fall short against the New York Yankees. It’s a surprise now to see the Yanks tail the ace man. Many suspect
a tie down with the club soon, but nothing concrete has come off yet. His agent his claimed increased interest in the player though and that is something to be vary of.
Brian Cashman recently made a few comments on the Cliff Lee and his agent, Darek Braunecker saying, "It's their dance card. They're setting the pace of this thing. I can only wait and respect the process they put themselves in. It took them a long time;
they fought through a lot of different cities to get to this point. I'm hoping this will be the last city he ends up in… in New York. We'll see how it plays out."
The Rangers are also weighing their chances to sign the maestro. One of the biggest benefits in Texas comes from a tax-free policy and the fact that Lee’s family is based in Little Rock. Braunecker remarked on the fact as he said, "It's one of the variables
he's going to have to consider. They're the closest club to Little Rock, and proximity to home is a factor for anybody that goes through this process. To what degree, I don't know. I guess we'll figure that out as the process continues to evolve."
