http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233 has been the team’s best bowler at the death overs – Cricket News Update
While defending his decision to use Ravi Rampaul in the Super Over against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472obago (T&T) Captain, Daren Ganga, said that the pacer has been most effective in the death overs, and is the team’s best bowler on the tournament
so far.
During Wednesday’s nail biting Champions League (CL) Twenty20 (T20) match between T&T and NSW, the latter had a formidable, 140-run target to chase.
Following a loss of 8 wickets, NSW finally trotted onto level the scores after whacking 16 runs in the final over, owned by Rampaul, which led the game to a Super Over.
However, to the Caribbean team’s despair, Rampaul, who bowled the single over decider, was whacked for 18 runs, which T&T failed to cover up, and suffered their second defeat of the tournament.
During the Skipper’s post match comments, Ganga defended his decision to use Rampaul, stating that “http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Shah-c2298 is the most experienced bowler, he’s been our best bowler so far in this tournament, the most in-form. Every time he’s bowled at the death for us, he’s
done the job for us. We’ve trained and drilled ourselves in a certain way, to finish off the innings in a certain manner. If we give Ravi 15 or 16 runs to defend, he’ll do that on any given day.”
The Skipper also comprehended that Rampaul’s slip of performance may have come after bowling 2 overs, back to back, and then the Super Over, all of which may have made the pacer tired and also citing that no matter what, Rampaul still stands out as Caribbean
squad’s best bowler.
Ganga also stated that his team has been through two cut throat matches, which is a clear evidence of how competitive and capable the side is. The skipper however, lamented that despite capable performances, the side has been unable to mark a win in the
group stages.
As for the team’s upcoming bout, Ganga said that his squad will make a strong revival and will surely go hard as they take on the Chennai Super Kings in their upcoming match on October 2, 2011.
