Trinidad and Tobago skipper, Daren Ganga, has stepped down from his position following his team’s embarrassing defeat in the finale of the Regional Super50 tournament.
Ganga and men performed magnificently throughout the competition, but failed to shine in the final encounter, suffering a five-wicket loss at the hands of Jamaica on October 29, 2011.
In a media release, the veteran batsman announced his decision to quit captaincy after leading the side in nine consecutive seasons. Under Ganga’s command, the side not only clinched the Caribbean T20 title last year, but also displayed an excellent recital
in the recent Champions League Twenty20. However, the team remained unlucky and could not make it to the semis.
Despite his wonderful stats over the last 10 years, Ganga decided to quit the hot seat, as he believes that the time has come for the new leader to hold the reins.
"I have always believed that one of my most important duties as captain is to foster the development of the players in my team as a critical aspect of succession planning. The evolution of the team into the mature unit it is, along with the emergence of
a pool of potential leaders within the team reaffirm that the time is right for relinquishing the reins of captaincy,” said Ganga who, however, elucidated that he will be available to serve his native side in the future.
It will be hard for the new skipper to produce anything similar to Ganga’s outstanding captaincy record, as he led the side to four domestic One-Day titles during the last nine years.

When asked about his future plans, the experienced player described that the post-captaincy era will be an entirely different phase of his professional and private life.
"While there have been challenges along the way, they pale in comparison to the innumerable rewarding moments and successes which I have enjoyed alongside my fellow players," shared the seasoned campaigner who led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in two of his 48 Test matches.
