Darian Chief to put Droopys English in a challenging spot in the Gold Cup – Heat 1
Henlow will stage the first heat of the Gold Cup over 550 metres flat on Thursday, 11th October. Racing in order to get entitled to the £100 prize money are Darian Chief, Merlins Myth, Droopys English, Vital Clue, Droopys Gizmo and Bit View Emma. The hounds have collected together from races at different race venues, and not just Henlow.
The first box has been allotted to Darian Chief, while racing in black and white tonight will be, Bit View Emma.
One of the most commendable candidates for the race is the two-year-old blue dog, Darian Chief. He started the racing career just this season, and has been taking part at the open level since the past seven outings.
His rankings during the last seven attempts did fluctuate, but they hit the bottom low just twice due to a fifth and then a sixth position.
After a Grade T1 race on 30th August, 2012 at Yarmouth over 462 metres, he got into the string of races at the most credible level.
He won the second heat of the second round of the Ladbrokes 66th East Anglian Greyhound Derby on 10th September, 2012 at Yarmouth over 462 metres.
He took off from the third gate, established a timely distance from the rest of the lot, made a transition from the rail to the middle, resurfacing once more got him on the other end of the wire in 27.71 seconds.
The Mark Wallis trained led Helenas Sailor by two lengths.
After three failures in line, Droopys Maldini’s son struck a hat-trick. Both of the races that he conquered were at venues other than Henlow.
The two-year-old bagged the £100 prize money of the October 545 Maiden on 2nd October, 2012 at Mildenhall over 545 metres. This race he won by an astonishing margin of 10 ¾ lengths.
The blue dog out of, Like Hot Cakes, then took along the winning composure to the Watch Coral TV Only Coral Shops Maiden Stayers on 5th October, 2012 at Romford over 575 metres. It took Darian Chief 35.73 seconds to reach the other end of the wire.
The red trap will need to look out for the 11 to 4 shot of the race, Droopys English, who won the most recent race at Henlow.
