Dark Matter to enthral at Meydan – Zabeel Mile Preview
S Burridge’s black colt, Dark Matter, will matter a lot at Meydan (UAE) racecourse on Thursday, March 1 and clinch top position in Zabeel Mile Sponsored By Commercial Bank Of Dubai (Group 2) Turf race which is scheduled to begin at 4:55.
The £96,774 contest of 1m distance has received 13 entries including Jaasoos, Dark Matter, Always Certain, Laa Rayb, Gingerbread Man, Derbaas, Viscount Nelson, Fanunalter, Rock Jock, Dux Scholar, Sandagiyr, Ibn Battuta and Do It All.
Though almost each of these runners owns good track record and splendid skills but Dark Matter seems to be in the most favourable position to win the high-profile event.
The four-year-old colt made his debut in September 2011. His maiden victory came on October 16. After finishing second in his third race on December 11, the dashing runner accomplished a couple of consecutive victories during January 2012 at Meydan.
The novice runner finished fifth in his last outing at the same track on February 9. Thus, he has got enough familiarity with the ground condition by running over there for three times in a row.
As a whole, the Hippocrates Stable-owned colt has won 3 out of his total 6 starts so far. These stats depict that he possesses immense talent which will help him thrive in today’s competition.
If Dark Matter manages to capitalise on his form well, he will be able to finish first in the Turf race.
Among the other runners, Sandagiyr and Viscount Nelson are expected to perform confidently today and finish second and third respectively.
After making his debut on April 4, 2011, Sandagiyr won two back-to-back races during April-May. The talented colt again bagged a big victory in his last outing at Meydan track on February 9.
Overall, the trainee of Saeed Bin Suroor has won 3 out of his total 7 starts to date.
On the other hand, Viscount Nelson has won for four times in his total 16 outings to date. After finishing second in a race on January 20, 2012, the horse went on to finish first in his last start at Meydan on February 16.
Thus, the M F De Kock-trained runner is in good form at the moment.
By and large, the Zabeel Mile will be a rip-roaring competition. Dark Matter will have to pass through many challenges to cross the boundary strap ahead of all. Let us get ready for the action. Good luck to all the runners.
