From Software’s challenging title is set to give PC gamers the chance to die repeatedly this summer as the game gets a release date on PCs.
Demon’s Souls was the first console game of its kind as it dared to be different compared to the other action RPGs (Role-Playing-Games) out there in the market. Where other games would hold a players hand and guide them along, Demon’s Souls punished players
for every single action they performed.
Yet, at the same time, once the player figured out where the traps, ambushes and their death awaited them, the feeling of satisfaction that followed every successful quest was second to none. Demon’s Souls may have been a PlayStation 3 exclusive but its
sequel Dark Souls released on all platforms last year.
However, From Software do not seem to want to restrict themselves to just gaming consoles as the developer has announced that the game will be hitting PCs this August with exclusive new content.
Whether or not the 46,000 signature strong petition had anything to do with it is a matter of debate, yet it seems Namco Bandai games has seen the sense in releasing the game on PCs as well.
Titled ‘Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition’ the PC version will bring all the challenging action of its console counterparts with it as well as a considerable amount of new content as well. New bosses have been confirmed and other content is also said to
announce in the coming days.
The game may not be a direct rival for Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, yet one can imagine a large number of RPG players giving Dark Souls a look when it does release. There is currently no other experience in the market similar to the game at the
moment, something that could prove to be a plus point in terms of sales.
Whether or not the game will be released on Steam or other online digital distribution platforms, has also not been confirmed as yet. Though one can imagine Valve interested in stocking the game.
