i noticed that i have dark areas between 3 of my front teeth...i brushed and they didn't go away. they just appeared overnight, as i was examining my teeth last night before i went to bed. no pain or sensitivity. i have not seen a dentist in a number of years (i have an irrational fear). i also just started using crest whitestrips. is this tooth decay or cavities?

  1. Could be staining from foods and drinks, tartar or the beginning of interproximal cavities. You should get a checkup and cleaning. Ignoring the dentist will not make dental problems disappear, only make them worse. Good luck

  2. I would say you should get to your dentist to have it looked at. It could be as simple as staining or as bad as decay. If it is staining then flossing each day should help get rid of it. Any time of whitening product should not be used if they might be cavitys.. it will speed up the decay process.
