Dark blue couch, beige couch, light blue carpet, what color walls?

Question

They're white right now, but its really ugly, and I dont have any art on the walls. I just want a good color.

Its the living room, has a tv, dark wood book shelf. Its connected to the dining room which has a birch wood table with dark red table cloth.

I have regular height walls, off white slightly textured vertical blinds and both rooms have white floor trim.

The room faces the West, so I don't get sunlight in the morning, but I do later in the day -- through a very big window (15'x6').

I'm a guy and I really don't know much about this. So, the more specific the better.

I'm down to spend a few hundred to make this good, the girls like good. ;)

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. I think it might look sharp to do one wall a dark gray like "iron ore" (# 7069) and then paint the rest of them "deer valley" (# 7720).

when re-decorating home, bedroom or any other room, always try to choose colors according to feng shui. in this case you will activate powers of 5 elements (water, earth, metal, wood and fire) and support all your lucky "areas" - this will attract love, romance, wealth, money, prosperity, luck etc etc
