i want to do mine and my fiance's wedding with a color scheme of red, blackand silver. i want minimal black, probably just the table cloths, and lots of victorian influence, likesilver candle sticks and candelaras and red roses everywhere. i want it to look romantic, but his very traditional family, according to hinm, will think im morbid for choosing black. does anyone else think that having a bit of black in the color scheme is morbid?

  1. To me black is a morbid color for a wedding...If you want to make your color scheme romantic and victorian, use lots of red, silver...The tablecloths in black will make the room look almost like a witch convention, way too dark....Use red tablecloths, silver candle holders, or candelabras, silver vases for flowers, lots of red, ivory and green...and some silver, greenery and maybe just black napkins...

  2. I think it would be fine...You could do black tableclothes with silver/white napkins and the red roses around the centerpiece would look really romantic. I've worked quite a few weddings with the black and white theme (including one on the 4th of July) it will look fine I really wouldn't worry about it ...You could possibly alternate napkin colors on every other table or what not between the red and silver/white napkins.

  3. Our colour scheme is the elegant Black and White with Royal Purple accents. A lot of people choose Black for there wedding due to the elegance.

I don't find it morbid. (and I'm a total girly girl.)

  4. Black is an elegant color and is also the the most co mmon color for wedding parties.

Get some pics of your ideas and plan.  You may keep it or not, but it is your wedding.

  5. Hon! First, its your wedding not his parents....Second....our "white weddings " are view by others as morbid because they dress their dead in white when they get buried...Third, those colors sound very classy and elegant, I think they would be a wonderful choice....

How can anything be morbid when your celebrate a day of eternal love....

  6. I think it sounds elegant. Not morbid at all.

  7. I don't think black is morbid exactly, although I can understand why his parent's wouldn't be so thrilled with the color choice. Maybe you could compromise? Say red over black table linens with black napkins maybe? And make your centerpieces silver.

  8. Honestly that sounds so pretty to me. And I'm a complete girly girl. If you don't mind the idea you could do a black based table cloth and add silver or red over the top of it. I think it sounds elegant and I love the idea of Victorian influence.

    Good Luck and Congratulations!

  9. It sounds elegant and very romantic with the candle light and classic roses. Best Wishes

  10. No really, as long as your dress is not black!

  11. i think it would be very cute, but i suggest black and royal purple and silver :)

  12. I think it sounds nice, like Gothic.  Avril Lavigne's wedding reception was Gothic style in red and black.

If you need decor ideas you should google that - it was really neat and original.
