Darken colored hair naturally at home?

colored my hair red brown . The bottom 3/4 of my hair came out perfect.

But the top 1/4 near root part is way more red than brown.Pretty much just red. Especially under light. ( Because of my bad previous colored shade, I think the guy applied too much on the top of my head)

Any ways to add more brown / darken the 1/4 part of my hair without using a product and coloring it again?

  1. you should go to a professional and have them do it for you

  2. well, i don't know sorry, but you can try a henna dye (it's natural at least......) or you could go back to the salon and ask the stylist. sorry, i really wish i could help more! =D

  3. Well if you want to get rid of the red, your going to need to use something that has a green base/contributing pigment. You can either go have a toner put in at a salon, or try to do it yourself at home but that would probably cause more damage. Your hair took more at the scalp because the heat from your head activated it and took more of the underlying red tones. By the way a toner in the salon will NOT damage your hair at all because it doesnt lift the cuticle (top part) of the hair, it only coats it. If you want just a change for the day, add A LITTLE i mean a small small amount of food coloring to your shampoo and it should counteract the red tones and give it more of a brown look. If you use another color at home try to find a semi permanent color, thats what they use at the salons for the toner...look for the color you want on the box, then look at the color code(usually the bottom corner)....say it says 5r look for something that has the number the same that is on the box you want....then has a G after it. So it will be a 5BG for example.

DO NOT use henna. It is permanent and can NOT be covered up by ANY salon, at home, or temporary color. It has to be cut out, thats the ONLY way to get rid of it. Also, if you dont tell your stylist you have it in your hair and she tries to cover it with a chemical color..it WILL cause your hair to fall out
