Darkening the engraving on ring?

Question

The ring is silver in color, but I'm not sure what it's made of. I got it for pretty cheap so I doubt it's real silver. I had it engraved on the outside but I'd like to accent it more by filling it with a black color. I just need to know how to do that without going out and paying for someone else to do it. Anyone have any DYI ideas?
