Darksiders 2 Arena mode revealed – Video Games Update
Vigil Games, the developer behind Darksiders 2, has revealed a new trailer for Darksiders 2 which shows off the game’s arena mode.
Darksiders 2 is the sequel to the Darksiders: Wrath of War which was released in 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game was a third person action plat-former and was heavily inspired by games like Zelda, Devil May Cry and God of War.
The first game managed to get positive reviews from critics and gamers after launch but sales were disappointing considering the hype of the game before launch. THQ has revealed that the game has sold over 1.2 million copies since launch.
The sequel was revealed at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011 and it was announced that Darksiders 2 will be a Wii-U launch title. Vigil Games has stated that they have been listening to fan feedback from the first game and are hoping that the sequel will
exceed gamers’ expectations to hopefully become one of the best open-world action adventure plat-former ever.
Unlike the first game where you play as ‘War’ from the four horsemen of apocalypse, Darksiders 2 will feature his brother ‘Death’ and the story of the game takes place alongside that of Darksiders 1. Vigil has stated that Death is even more of a ‘Bad-a*s’
than War and gamers will love playing as him.
The latest YouTube video for the game shows that it will include an Arena mode called the ‘Crucible’ where gamers will have to face waves of enemies which will grow stronger after every level. The developer claims that the new mode will be really challenging
and not every player will be able to reach the last stage with 100 waves.
After each stage gamers will be given an option of they wish to continue to the next arena level or if they want to cash out with what they’ve won so far. You are putting all your rewards on the line when you chose to continue playing the arena and will
lose everything if you are defeated in a level.
The inclusion of the arena mode confirms that Darksiders 2 will offer gamers much more to do once they have completed the single player campaign. The game is set to release on August 14, 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
