Darksiders II set for 2012 release, Catwoman revealed as playable character in Batman: Arkham City
The long rumoured sequel to surprise hit Darksiders; Darksiders II is set for a 2012 release. The news comes after THQ, the studio behind the game, made the announcement.
The gameplay dynamics are expected to remain the same while the plot will be intertwined with the story of the original, as the game will feature an all new protagonist. The game will replace the horseman War, with Death who turns out to be the former’s
brother with both being part of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
According to the developer, fans of the game can expect the in-game world to be much larger than that of the original as Death attempts to save humanity after War was falsely accused for bringing the apocalypse.
THQ went on to hype the game even more when they stated that the game would feature, “full weapon and armour upgrade systems as well as bigger and more challenging dungeons and a vast array of new enemies and bosses.”
Darksiders II can be expected to make its way on to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC as Death replaces War in 2012.
Meanwhile Rocksteady had teenagers, as well as a fair amount of adults, all over the world excited when they revealed Catwoman would be a playable character in the sequel to the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum; Batman; Arkham City.
A reveal trailer showcasing Catwoman was released on the internet with the feline character having subtle similarities with the movie by the same title.
The trailer ended speculation as to who would be the second playable character in the game with Robin having been the apparent favourite. Other characters confirmed to make an appearance are the Penguin, Two Face and the Riddler but one can expect the roster
to grow as the game nears its release.
Rocksteady put to rest any fears that fans may have had of Catwoman being a skin rather a character by stating that the leather clad feline character would not only have her own move-set and animations but also have her own unique way of traversing through
Arkham City.
She has also been confirmed to have her own skill progression path and separate tech and abilities to Batman. Players will be able to switch between the two characters during the game as Catwoman can reach areas Batman could not.
The studio also confirmed that Catwoman would not be one of the ‘good guys’ but would rather be aiding Batman for her own agenda. Which makes it needless to say that one should expect a twist at the end.
Players can get their hands on Catwoman when Batman: Arkham City is released on the 18th of October on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
