Darley Perez puts his undefeated streak on the line against Alain Hernandez – Boxing News
Darley Perez, the former interim WBO Latino lightweight champion, will put his undefeated win streak on the line against Alain Hernandez, the former number one contender for the WBC FECARBOX lightweight gold, in an eight-round skirmish on April 6, 2012.
The event is being promoted by Ken Thompson of Thompson Boxing Promotions and the ring for the bouts will be stretched at Doubletree Hotel situated in Ontario, California, United States. The above skirmish will headline the event whereas the non-title eight-round
bout between Jose Reynoso and James Hope will co-headline the show.
Darley, 28, has been in a total 24 encounters and emerged victorious in all. The young Colombian has nailed 18 of his opponents by knockout and is ranked as country’s number one lightweight pugilist.
Darley recently nailed the heavily experienced Fernando Trejo via unanimous decision and boasts wins over names such as Oscar Meza, Wilson Alcorro, Jose Reyes and others. The orthodox grasped the WBO Latino lightweight gold after collecting an impressive
first round technical knockout win over Ernesto Vasquez Batioja.
In a recent interview, Darley shared his views about his upcoming bout and said that he is lucky to have a training camp like the one he is currently using adding that the engagement is an important one since it is in America and a win here will definitely
catch media’s attention and will boost him up not only in the division rankings but also in the main stream media.
While sharing his views about Alain, Darley commented, “He’s a bit tall and I am not too familiar with him but I am training hard because I want to be prepared to battle a hard competitor and huge fights in the future.”
Darley reiterated that he does not want to lose this bout at all especially when he has undergone a strenuous training session. Perez said, “I am prepared to take Hernandez and as you have seen in my workout you can see that my talent and training will give
me the win in this fight. I started training for this fight back in January and you will see that the work that I have put in here at the gym I will put into physical statement in the ring.”
Alain is slightly more experienced then Darley but this will not intimidate the surging Perez since the Mexican Hernandez has won only 18 bouts out of a total 29 and in addition has grabbed only 10 wins by knockout. The skirmish will be a toe-to-toe one
if Alain uses his height effectively.
