  5. Hi

I travel up there quite regularly to see my children, who live a few miles outside Darlington, I have to say as a "soft" Southerner that parts of it are as described by the previous responder (Like most Towns and cities) but overall the town has been redeveloped quite well and in most suburbs you wouldn't realise it's an old industrial town, shopping facilities are excellent, has a good proportion of schools doing well above the national average, crime in relation to say London is very good, a lot of what they consider crime we would laugh at in London (I mean that in a nice way). it has excellent transport links, well it should do really, it industry was based on the railways, I don't mean to sound like the darlington tourist board, but I was surprised by how nice overall that it was.

    Take care
