Darmyn wins third stage and Malle retains overall lead in 2011 International Tour De Martinique
Selection Guadeloupe team’s Kenny Darmyn showed his tremendous performance and won the third stage of 2011 International Tour de Martinique on Monday, July 11. Guillaume Malle maintained his overall leader’s yellow jersey.
The race started in Sainte Luce and ended in Trinite. The 31-year-old Kenny took a total of 2 hours, 50 minutes and 39 seconds to cover the distance of 106 kilometres.
Kerane Barolin of Selection Guadeloupe was the runner-up with 11 seconds behind Kenny. Romain Cardis of Veranda Rideau Sarthe finished in the third spot.
Marc Flavien (Selection Martinique), Boris Carene (Selection Guadeloupe) and Kazuo Inoue (Team Bridgestone Anchor) were in fourth, fifth and sixth places, respectively.
The stage 2a winner, Rik Kavsek of the Global Cycling team, was in the 40th place with a difference of 4 minutes and 43 seconds, ahead of Jonathan Dorby and Ismael Denara. 
Romain Cherruault of UNI Sport Foyalais was in good form and tried to catch the other leading cyclists, but failed to maintain his pace. He grabbed the 18th place with the difference of 2 minutes and 16 seconds, ahead of Frederic Theobald (Sélection Guadeloupe)
and Sebastien Fournet (Veranda Rideau Sarthe).
With few kilometres to go, the five riders made their first breakaway which included Kenny Darmyn (Selection Guadeloupe), Martial Gene (Selection Guadeloupe), Mickael Laurent (Pedale Pilotine), Cedric Eustache (Selection Martinique) and Reoland Dijkshoorn
(Global Cycling Team Hollande).
All of them worked together, while Cedric Eustache and Reoland were caught by the peloton. Mickael Laurent increased his pace and was followed by Kenny and Martial Gene, but Kenny gained an advantage of few seconds and took the mountain standing of the stage.
Guillaume Malle of Veranda Rideau Sarthe retained his overall standing with a timing of 10 hours, 59 minutes and 46 seconds. Aurelien Louvel His of USSA Pavilly Barentin was in the second spot with 1 minute and 34 seconds behind Malle.
Marc Flavien (Selection Martinique) was in third place with a difference of 3 minute and 16 seconds and 16 seconds. The stage winner, Kenny, was in the 23rd place with a difference of 18 minutes and 2 seconds, ahead of Martial Gene and Philippe Palmiste.
The next stage will start from Trinite and end in Macouba. All the cyclists will cover the distance of 90 kilometres.
