Darrelle Revis limited at Jets practice with tight hamstring
New York Jets' starting cornerback Darrelle Revis had limited involvement in Thursday's practice due to tightness in his hamstring further compounding the injury woes which are plaguing the Jets defence at the moment. Although Revis did not have a full practice,
reports are that the injury is unlikely to keep the Pro Bowl corner out of the lineup for Sunday's game against their most hated division rivals – the New England Patriots.
It is believed that the injury could be due to Revis' lack of fitness after missing all of the pre-season as a holdout. Revis finally re-signed with the Jets only a few days prior to their season opener at home against the Baltimore Ravens last Monday night
and found himself quickly in the thick of the action. That opening game saw Ravens QB Joe Flacco take to the air 38 times continually exploiting the Jets defensive backs as the Ravens converted an astonishing 11 of 19 times on third down. The Ravens managed
12 of their 20 first downs through the air, and another six via penalties, as the Jets amassed a whopping 125 yards on 14 penalties.
With linebacker Calvin Pace out of the lineup for a second straight game with a broken foot, and with starting defensive tackle Kris Jenkins now out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL – the same one he tore in week six of last season – the depth
of the Jets defence will be tested. With the ranks of the Jets defence beginning to thin out due to injury it becomes all the more important to have a fully fit Revis in the lineup.
Revis tried to assuage Jets fans' concerns stating that it was only a little tightness, and suggested that he was 100 percent and good to go. Revis will be expected to cover the Patriots number one receiver in Randy Moss on Saturday afternoon which is no
easy task. Moss had 5 catches for 59 yards against the Cincinnatti Bengals last week. It will be up to Revis to take Moss out of the game and allow the rest of the Jets defensive backs to concentrate on Wes Welker and get some pressure on Patriots QB Tom Brady.
