English striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Agbonlahor-c14288 has the ability to find his place back in the England squad.
The Aston Villa duo were unable to earn a call-up for the Three Lions squad for the European Championships, but Bent does not think this is the end for them. After http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello resigned, Roy Hodgson was appointed the manager of England and he did not call either Bent or Agbonlahor.
While Bent and Agbonlahor did well at the start of the 2011-2012 season, scoring five goals in the Premier League with only 11 games gone by, both suffered a dip in form. Bent suffered an ankle injury in February and without his partner in attack, Agbonlahor was unable to perform.
The 28-year-old revealed that he was disappointed, but was certain he could secure a place in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 squad along with Agbonlahor. However, he admitted for that to happen they had to remain fit in the upcoming season and prove to Hodgson that they had what it takes to be a part of the England squad.
Bent said in an interview:
“I'd like to think me and Gabby could be picked for the same England squad again. If he can keep himself fit and look after his hamstrings there's every chance.
But when you've got that much pace and explosiveness you're always going to have problems with your hamstrings.”
The 25-year-old Agbonlahor has a recurrent hamstring injury, which Bent believes his teammate can overcome and prove to Hodgson that he deserved a place in the England squad. Bent pointed out Agbonlahor’s performances for Aston Villa at the beginning of last season and believed he could go on to do the same for the national team if he was given the chance.
He continued:
“If he can get over that then there's no reason why he can't force himself into the squad. At the start of last season his performances were fantastic.
I know maybe he didn't get the goals that he would have liked in the second half of the season, but it's hard when you have injuries here and there.”
