The 25-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987 attacking midfielder was voted the Aston Villa’s player of year by the supporters last season. Ireland did well for the struggling Aston Villa side after an unsuccessful season with them after joining the Premier League
side in 2010.
Bent revealed he was certain Ireland had the potential to improve further and would go on to have a fantastic term with the Villains in the upcoming season. He felt the key to unlocking Ireland’s top form for the club was to give him more freedom to adjust
to his preferred role.
Bent said while speaking to reporters:
“There's no point playing Stevie Ireland one game and then moving him to the right and then taking him out of the team. You've got to play Stevie Ireland four or five games in that position and go from there.
For me, he's the best footballer in the squad, and if you want to see the best Stephen Ireland and get the best out of him you need to be playing him.”
According to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 striker, the best position for Ireland was right behind the forward instead of playing a much wider role towards the right. Bent also believed that Ireland had to be given more play time if he was expected to improve.
He revealed:
“The best way to do that is to play him in the 'hole'.
Confidence can make a massive difference to any player, and when he is feeling good about himself the performances will follow.”
Bent is currently recovering from an ankle injury, because of which he missed out on a spot in the England squad for the European Championships. He revealed he was hoping Ireland would be given a more central role in the upcoming season, which would not
only help him but the team as well.
Since joining Aston Villa in the 2010-2011 season, Ireland has been on a loan move to Newcastle United for half a season before returning to Villa Park. He made 20 appearances in the second half of the season and scored a single goal for the Villains.
