Darren Bent praises Ashley Young
Former Sunderland striker Darren Bent revealed he was not surprised with the interest shown by clubs for Aston Villa and England teammate Ashley Young. The 25-year-old winger c*m striker will be out of contract in about 15 months which has sparked rumors
that he is close to a Villa exit in the summer.
The highly talented England international has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, among other top sides. This season he has scored eight times and has provided the same number of assists in 29 appearances, which has made him the
top target for the summer transfer window.
Bent arrived at Aston Villa during the January transfer window for a fee of £24 million from Sunderland and has had a fairly good start with 3 goals in 7 appearances. The 27-year-old England international said that after having played alongside Young he
understood why the top clubs wanted him.
Young’s excellent form is not restricted to just club football, he has recreated similar success for country as well. It was the Villa striker who was responsible for both the England goals, having won the penalty and then setting up the second for Bent
to give his side a comfortable 2-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 in the 2012 Euro qualifiers.
Bent was full of praise for his teammate, he said while speaking to reporters, “Ashley has been playing really, really well this season and being linked to top, top sides. It's because of the form he is showing like against Wales that all these clubs are
after him.”
Bent admitted that he did not wish for Young to leave Aston Villa and hoped he would stay at the club, he continued, “The main thing is we can keep going, hang onto him for as long as possible and keep creating the chances for Villa and scoring goals.”
Nicolas Douchez denies Aston Villa link
Nicolas Douchez, the Rennes goalkeeper, rubbished rumors linking him to English Premier League side Aston Villa. The Frenchman has been linked heavily with Villa despite reports that he recently turned down a move to the Premier League in the January transfer
window.
The fact that Douchez will be out of contract with the Ligue 1 side in the summer has most likely fueled the rumors, but the 30-year-old revealed there was a chance that he could stay with Rennes. If that is the case then chances are he will end up finishing
his career at the French outfit.
The stopper has been with Rennes since 2008 and is not particularly keen on a move away, he said while speaking to reporters, “Let's say there is a 20 per cent chance I could stay at Rennes. I will be a free agent next summer and I want to take time to have
no regrets. I was sure to leave; now it is less sure.”
