Aston Villa striker Darren Bent revealed he planned on staying with the club past summer and was determined to support the new manager.
The English striker has been sidelined for three months after picking up an ankle ligament injury and was linked with a move away in the January transfer window. However, Bent stayed on with the struggling side and scored 11 goals to help them to a 16th place finish.

The 28-year-old urged his side to take some responsibility for the poor season and as a result, the sacking of the manager. He revealed he would offer his full support to the new manager.

He revealed he was fully committed to the club and was not considering leaving any time soon.
Bent said in an interview:
“People have asked if I was mis-sold the dream when I signed and if I'm honest I didn't think Ashley Young and Stewart Downing would leave in the same summer.
But I signed for Aston Villa because I wanted to be here and I still do.”
