Legendary cricketer from the West Indies, Brian Lara, has high hopes attached with youth in the Caribbean side, particularly the left-handed batsman Darren Bravo.
Former West Indian cricketer, Lara, reckons that Bravo has all the ingredients to be the next big thing, considering that he can cope with the pressure of playing at the top level.
The 22-year-old Bravo, who’s batting style resembles that of Lara's, has been the find for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 cricket in recent years. The youngster has been in top notch form lately, scoring back to back centuries.
Lara asserts that now the newbie has a taste of it, he’ll want plenty more. Backing Bravo to shine, the iconic cricketer said, “Bravo seems to go from strength to strength. It took a bit of time before he got his first hundred,
but now he's had a taste of it and he's going to carry on.”
The former cricketer held that top cricket playing nations are now aware of Bravo’s potential and will be formulating strategies against him. Lara feels that things won’t be easy for the 22-year-old but this is where he needs to
step up and show his mettle.
Lara said, “He's got to understand now that a lot of the opposition will start looking at him because he's now a recognised player, and he will come under a bit of pressure. Hopefully, he has the maturity to come out of it.”
West Indies are currently on tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 on Saturday, November 26. Despite the draw West Indies lost the Test series 2-0.
Lara was content with the performances exhibited by the young Caribbean outfits. The former cricketer said that West Indies has abundant talent at their disposal but what they lack is the infrastructure, and that they need to harness
the talent, otherwise it won’t be of much use.
“The infrastructure for our cricket is very poor and there's nothing to build on. I still believe that what we're seeing out in the middle is raw talent. I don't believe they're getting what is necessary to harness their talent,”
claims Lara.
