Darren Bravo, the hard-hitting batsman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, takes heart from his team’s courageous performance in the second innings of the lost, second Test against India, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
The 22-year-old Trinidad batsman scored a dazzling 136 in the second innings of Kolkata Test to take his side to 463 before India won the match by an innings and 15 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Bravo said that losing a match is always disappointing but they can take positives from the valiant 463 in the second innings.
"It is obviously a sad feeling because it (century) was not enough,” said Bravo while talking to the media reporters after the match. “Making India bat again was an uphill task, but we can hold our heads high with our performance in the second innings,"
he added further.
Talking about his superb century knock, the belligerent Trinidad batsman said that he played his natural game. He also credited his 136-run knock to the veteran batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390, saying that his presence on the crease gave him a lot of confidence.
"I played my natural game as much as possible and luckily the big hits came off,” said the centurion. “I am happy with my performance. Batting with (Shivnarine) Chanderpaul gave me a lot of confidence. I worked on my concentration a lot more," he further
added.
Earlier the Caribbean side had capitulated against the spin attack of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, as the morning session of Day three saw them losing eight wickets as the hosts bundled them out for a meagre 153, enforcing a follow-on.
Bravo said that after being dismissed for a paltry 153 in the first innings, they learnt from the mistakes and came back with a plan to prove themselves against the spin attack, and was happy that the plan did work.
"In the second innings, we decided to come together as a team, play our strokes and express ourselves in the best possible way," said Bravo.
He also praised Barath, Edwards and Samuels for their Valiant half centuries.
