Darren Bravo unlikely to play in IPL5 – Cricket News Update
The belligerent West Indies batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386, is unlikely to play even a single game in the ongoing season five of the cash-rich Indian Premier League, due to a busy national schedule.
The 23-year-old left-handed Trinidad stroke-maker, who is currently playing a three-match Test series against Australia, had signed for the Deccan Chargers in the players’ auction earlier this year. He was due to join the Chargers’
outfit after the Test series, which will end on Friday, April 27, 2012.
But now, as the West Indies cricket team is set to leave for the tour of England next week, the Trinidad hard-hitter is unlikely to get a chance to prove his mettle in subcontinent.
The Deccan Chargers' team manager, Paul Skinner, confirmed that Bravo’s availability this season is very limited so he is unlikely to make a trip to India. However, he did opine that a decision in this regard has not yet been made.
"Darren will only be available for two-three games even if he comes to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at the end of the Australia Test series because the West Indies will be going to England in early May," said Skinner while speaking to the media reporters
in Kolkata on Tuesday.
"It's possible that he may not make the trip. A decision will be taken shortly after consultation between the franchise and the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board," Skinner, a former Barbadian cricketer added further.
Among a number of players who side with IPL franchises for the season five, Darren Bravo is the only player who preferred the home three-Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 over the money-spinning league.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869, all played in the one-day leg of the home series against Australia but opted out of the Test series in favour of the Indian Premier
League.
The IPL5 ends on May 27, while West Indies will kick-start its tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on May 17, 2012. During more than the five-week long tour of England, spanning from May 17 to June 24, Darren Sammy’s men will play three Tests, three One Day Internationals and
a one-off T20 International against the Poms.
