Darren Clarke to join the field of the Omega European Masters
Ireland’s golf legend Darren Clarke is on the final entry list of the upcoming Omega European Masters. This is great news for his fans, who have yet to see their favourite player post a good finish in this year.
Darren Clarke is well known for his excellent golf skills and the string of victories he posted earlier in his career.
What makes him special is his personality and presence both on and off the golf course. This is just one of the reasons of his popularity that has spilled outside his native country, Ireland.
2012 has not been kind to Clarke. He has not been able to perform in any of the tournaments he has played in. The year started with BMW PGA Championship, where he scored just 148 points and finished in the 95th place.
The next event was the all-important Irish Open. This was his home tournament and he was expected to post a top-three finish because of the home crowd advantage. He failed to deliver and ended up in the 39th place after posing 284 points to his
scorecard.
This performance gave his fans some hope that Clarke is on his way out of the rough performance patch.
The very next event was the Alstom Open de France. This was another miserable performance where he played just two rounds of 70 and 76 points each.
He played an even worse game in the 141st Open Championship. His performance in this very important event was a serious disappointment for everyone connected to him. When the event ended, Clarke was placed in the 120th position for a score of
147 points.
When the US PGA Championship was announced, Clarke was on the list of the final line-up. Given his past performances, nothing spectacular was expected of him. He played an average game and finished in the 54th place. He scored 6-over 294 points.
The recent Johnnie Walker Championship was another disappointment that came as no shock for the fans. He posted just 147 points and ended up in the 90th place.
The European Masters is another chance for Darren Clarke to come up with his former form and play his usual excellent game.
