Darren Clarke will join the field of Ballantine's Championship in April
Darren Clarke is one of the hottest among the field of the Ballantine's Championship, scheduled from April 26 to 29, at Blackstone Golf Club in South Korea.
The 43-year-old Northern Irish professional golf player is the winner of 14 European Tour events and is now confirmed that he is in the field of the Ballantine's Championship.
This tournament was established in 2008, and was won by Graeme McDowell, Thongchai Jaidee in 2009, Marcus Fraser in 2010 and Lee Westwood is the defending champion.
Clarke is currently playing at the PGA staged Shell Houston Open in Texas and also has ample chances to lead there as well.
The 57th world ranked player is also the winner of three PGA Tour events. Last year, Clarke won two titles, the European Tour staged Iberdrola Open and one major title of The Open Championship.
His performance at the Open Championship was amazing. He scored 5-under 275 and defeated Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson by three strokes, at Royal St. George’s, in England.
This was his first victory at the majors and he competed well for the title. Similarly, he scored 6-under 274 and won the title of Iberdrola Open by three strokes over David Lynn and Chris Wood.
Rory McIlroy is Clarke’s ideal sports personality and he is a fan of his tremendous performances since day-one.
Clarke is also willing to learn from the young Northern Irish lad to follow his leading performances.
“He came out straight away, bounced back, and totally dominated the US Open,” said Clarke. “It takes a special kind of person, a special kind of talent, and a special kind of character to be able to do that”.
Hence, Clarke is confident to grab some more glories in the near future, by following McIlroy and improving his swing.
His presence at the Shell Houston Open and at the Ballantine's Championship is making the field tougher.
Clarke will join Dustin Johnson, Ian Poulter, Y.E. Yang and KT Kim. These four players have also confirmed to play the European Tour staged event in April.
The golf experts believe that this year, the winner will be among these five. They are all highly motivated and confident to be on top of the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Clarke’s leading skills are most likely to help him to win another European Tour staged event in April.
